Mike Sutton is the Founder and Managing Partner of Guideboat Capital Partners, where he leads the strategy and execution for Guideboat. His investing approach is shaped by a belief that great companies are created through disciplined execution, aligned incentives, and leadership teams who take pride in the details—especially when the work is hard and unglamorous.

Before founding Guideboat, Mike was Managing Director and Co-Head of Private Investments at Leon Capital and a Member at JCP Investment Management. Earlier in his career, he worked in investment banking at BofA Merrill.

Mike’s perspective is grounded in real operating experience—from running an agricultural services business in Colombia to working as a commercial HVAC apprentice and a laborer at a coal-fired power plant. These experiences inform how he evaluates businesses, supports management teams, and approaches risk with humility and conviction.

He earned an MBA from the University of Virginia and undergrad at Texas A&M University.
